DPCC Chief Devender Yadav Slams Delhi Govt Over Rising Pollution, Calls for All-Party Action

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Shri Devender Yadav said that despite AQI crossing 400 at more than half a dozen places in the capital today, the Rekha Gupta government has completely failed to find a permanent solution to the worsening pollution in Delhi in 10 months. Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has proved her helplessness in controlling pollution in Delhi. We want to go along with the government in every step to control pollution, if the government is really serious on pollution control, then immediately call an all-party meeting and work on the ideas and measures of all political parties and come forward to protect the health of the people of Delhi. Devender Yadav said that the Congress always works on issues of public concern and expressed gratitude to the Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi for effectively raising the serious issues related to the health of the people of Delhi in Parliament on the rising pollution across the country. The government needs to urgently put in place a comprehensive and decisive national plan against choking pollution. BJP has not been ableDevender Yadav said that the BJP has not been able to solve any crisis related to Delhi except making big announcements, while the people of Delhi have been facing a serious crisis of pollution for the last 8-10 years. He said that during the 15 years of Congress rule in Delhi, people were never bothered by pollution because to control pollution, we took a revolutionary step by making Delhi kerosene-free, increasing the green cover of Delhi, shutting down diesel buses in one stroke and converting the entire transport system into CNG. The previous Aam Aadmi Party government and the current BJP government did not work to increase the occupancy of the DTC fleet as per the need, due to which people have to take out their vehicles and pollution is continuously taking a dangerous form due to the aging buses plying on the roads.
Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Vision Being Politicised by AAP, Says Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva on Mahaparinirvan Diwas

Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva today paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvan Diwas and said that restricting Babasaheb Ambedkar’s vision to any one section of society is equivalent to insulting him, because Babasaheb’s ideology and philosophy aimed at educating every deprived individual and connecting them to the mainstream of society. Virendra Sachdeva said it is extremely unfortunate that Aam Aadmi Party leaders make political statements in the name of Babasaheb but have done nothing for the upliftment of the Dalit community in their 10 years of governance. The Delhi BJP President said that from Arvind Kejriwal and Saurabh Bhardwaj to AAP MLAs Kuldeep Kumar and Vishesh Ravi, all of them repeatedly make misleading allegations that Babasaheb’s portrait has been removed from the Delhi Secretariat. I challenge them to accompany me to the Secretariat, and if Babasaheb’s portrait is not found in the Chief Minister’s office, I will apologize but if it is found there, then the AAP leaders must apologize for spreading lies. How many Dalit students their governmentVirendra Sachdeva further said that Saurabh Bhardwaj and other AAP leaders want to create political controversy by linking or delinking Babasaheb’s name with schools. They should tell how many Dalit or economically weaker students received educational or scholarship benefits through any government scheme during their tenure. Virendra Sachdeva said that the AAP government announced many schemes in the name of Babasaheb— including the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana— for Dalit and backward-class students, but not a single scheme provided any significant benefit to these students. I ask Saurabh Bhardwaj to tell how many Dalit students their government sent abroad for studies in 10 years, how many received scholarship benefits, or how many benefited from the Babasaheb Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana. Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas YojanaThe Delhi BJP President said the Kejriwal government announced a plan to send Dalit students abroad for higher studies, including allocating a special ₹5 crore per year in the budget for Dalit students, but in 10 years they released only ₹2.5 crore, and out of that, merely ₹30 lakh was actually distributed. Saurabh Bhardwaj should explain why, despite repeated announcements, his government did not distribute scholarships to 5 lakh Scheduled Caste/Tribe students and why not even a single student received the benefit of the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana.
Punjab Declares Three Takhats as Holy Cities; Kejriwal, Mann Hail Historic Step on 350th Shaheedi Diwas”

With reverence to the Ninth Guru’s supreme sacrifice, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal lauded the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government’s decision to convene a one-day special session of the Punjab Assembly at Sri Anandpur Sahib on the 350th ‘Shaheedi Diwas’ (martyrdom anniversary) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, hailing it “a golden chapter in Punjab’s history.” The AAP Chief noted that holding the Assembly on this sacred land, and unanimously passing the historic resolution declaring Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Amritsar Sahib (including the corridor), Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo) as Holy Cities, is a deeply faithful tribute to the timeless traditions, devotion and spiritual heritage of the three Takhats. Arvind Kejriwal said thatInteracting with media persons, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that the Punjab government’s decision is not only significant from a spiritual perspective but is also crucial for preserving Punjab’s cultural heritage, its history and the faith of future generations. He extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Punjab Government, all respected MLAs and the entire sangat for this unique and visionary step. “May Punjab always shine with its heritage, dignity and spiritual light with the grace of Sri Guru Sahib Ji,” he said. Arvind Kejriwal further said, “I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit Sri Anandpur Sahib and participate in the commemorations on the 350th ‘Shaheedi Diwas’ of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Punjab Government has organised the events with the utmost honour and devotion. For the first time on Monday, a special session of the Assembly was held outside Chandigarh, at Sri Anandpur Sahib. In this special session, an historic decision was taken to declare Sri Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo and the Amritsar–Anandpur corridor as holy cities.” This fulfilled not only the decades-old demand of three crore Punjabis but also of crores of people across the world. Today the spiritual and emotional desire of the people has been honoured,” he said. Arvind Kejriwal congratulated all MLAs and said that in these holy cities, the sale of drugs, tobacco and meat will not be permitted. “The Punjab Government will extend full support for their development so that these cities become more beautiful and attractive for devotees, comparable to the way Vatican City is regarded globally,” he added. After the session, he paid obeisance at Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib and will remain in Sri Anandpur Sahib until the conclusion of the commemorations. During this time, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann told the media on Monday that the one-day special session of the Punjab Assembly held at Sri Anandpur Sahib was historic. The session was convened as part of the events marking the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. “In this sacred session, all MLAs remembered in detail the sacrifice of Guru Sahib and bowed their heads in tribute. For the first time in history, the Punjab Assembly stepped out of Chandigarh and convened on the revered land of Sri Anandpur Sahib. Its sole purpose was to remember the great sacrifice of Guru Sahib, offer homage and carry his teachings to future generations,” he added.Long-standing demand,Bhagwant Singh Mann saidCM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a long-standing demand spanning several decades has finally been met. The Assembly unanimously granted ‘holy city’ status to the three Takhats located on Punjab’s holy soil—Sri Akal Takhat Sahib (Amritsar), Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib (Anandpur Sahib) and Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo). Along with this, the corridor from Sri Harmandir Sahib to Sri Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo has also been officially declared a sacred area. In honour of devotees’ sentiments, the sale of meat, liquor and tobacco will be prohibited in these regions. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that while the world recognises Vatican City as a single sacred site, Punjab’s land holds a “Vatican” at every step, marked by countless sacrifices. “To strengthen development, cleanliness and religious tourism in these holy cities, the Punjab Government will provide open funding. When any foreign or Indian devotee visits, they will experience the divine aura of Guru Sahib across the three sacred cities, bringing peace to the mind,” he asserted. The Punjab CM expressed gratitude to Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, all MLAs and the revered saints, heads of sects and social workers present in the gallery. He made special mention of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and his family, noting that they have been participating in the commemorations for two days and will remain until the conclusion of the bhog ceremony. He added that he considers it his good fortune to have had a small opportunity to contribute to this service. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that no political issues were discussed in today’s Assembly session. “It had been decided beforehand that there would be no jibes or political exchanges in the House. Political debates can happen later, but today was a day to rise above politics and collectively honour Guru Sahib’s 350th Shaheedi Diwas—his sacrifice for humanity and human rights,” he affirmed.
AAP Welcomes Delhi HC Order Granting Power Connections to Booked Properties

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has hailed the Delhi High Court’s decision directing that booked properties be granted electricity connections, calling it a long-overdue relief for thousands of residents. Senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak said the High Court’s order stems directly from the proposal passed during the Arvind Kejriwal Government, which had already ensured water connections for booked properties in 2021 and pushed through an Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) proposal for electricity connections in 2024 after citizens insisted that water access was meaningless without power. The senior AAP leader noted that the same BJP-controlled MCD that sealed 1.5 lakh homes and engaged in massive illegal collections between 2007 and 2022 had consistently opposed every attempt to provide electricity connections, even when the AAP Government brought the proposal to the House. At a press conference held at the party headquarters on Thursday, senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak said, “The BJP took control of the MCD in 2007 and remained in power until 2022, during which people who migrated from other states and worked in Delhi built small and large homes with their life savings, only to see nearly 1.50 lakh of them sealed by the BJP-ruled MCD. The BJP councillors and corrupt officials collected lakhs of rupees from these families, who kept demanding electricity and water connections for years.” He added that the MCD’s building department functions under the MCD, and since the BJP was in power, it never gave permission for electricity or water connections because booked properties had become a major income hub for BJP leaders. Durgesh Pathak pointed out, “Arvind Kejriwal took a historic decision in 2021–22 that even booked properties have a fundamental right to water. Babasaheb’s Constitution ensures every person the right to life, and if the right to life is meaningful, access to water cannot be denied.” He added that in 2021–22, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) issued a notification directing that all properties in Delhi, including jhuggi jhopdis, unauthorised colonies, resettlement colonies and booked properties, must receive water connections. “After this notification, every person across Delhi began receiving water connections,” he said.He noted that many people later approached the court, arguing that water could only be used if electricity was also available, and demanded electricity connections. Electricity could only be provided if the MCD building department issued an NOC, but the MCD refused. “After the AAP formed the MCD government in 2023, the MCD House passed a unanimous resolution on 26 February 2024 directing BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna and Tata Power Limited to provide electricity connections in the same manner that the DJB provides water connections,” he said. Proposal was brought by AAP councillorDurgesh Pathak said the proposal was brought by AAP councillor Prem Chauhan from Ward 164 and AAP councillor Praveen Kumar from Ward 105. The House unanimously passed the proposal and instructed power companies to provide electricity connections to the 1.50 lakh homes sealed by the BJP government. He added, “We thank the Delhi High Court for taking cognisance of the proposal passed by the AAP government and directing BSES (Bombay Suburban Electricity Supply) Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna and Tata Power to provide electricity connections to all sealed homes in Delhi. These families can now finally receive electricity. Electricity, like water, is a fundamental right.” The senior AAP leader said, “I also thank Arvind Kejriwal, whose government passed the water-connection proposal in 2021. Had the Delhi government not passed the proposal for water connections in 2021, the AAP government in the MCD would not have been able to pass the proposal for electricity connections.” Kuldeep Kumar saidSenior leader and MLA Kuldeep Kumar said another fraud of the BJP’s “Chachi 420 government” had been exposed. He said, “The AAP government in the MCD passed the proposal on 26 February 2024 so that residents of booked properties would not suffer for electricity connections. The Delhi High Court took cognisance of that proposal and ruled in favour of these one and a half lakh people.”The AAP MLA said the BJP turned the MCD into a den of extortion from the moment it took power, booking properties to extract illegal money and harassing families. “After the High Court’s decision, these families have finally received major relief and light will now reach their homes,” he said. No work in DelhiKuldeep Kumar said the BJP had done no work in Delhi and only took credit for the work done by others, adding that it had now begun claiming credit for even the High Court’s work and did not spare even Babasaheb’s name. He said, “The BJP governs both Delhi and the MCD. The High Court has ordered installation of electricity meters on booked properties; now the BJP should remove the seals from those properties and complete their registration. Only then will people of Delhi acknowledge that the BJP has worked in the public interest.” Kuldeep Kumar asserted, “Because of the proposal passed by the AAP government, the people of Delhi have received significant relief. This is the result of Arvind Kejriwal’s farsighted leadership.” AAP councillor from Janakpuri ward Praveen Kumar said the AAP has always prioritised the interests of the people. He said the AAP government in the MCD functioned for two years and received countless complaints that 25–square-yard homes built by poor families with their life savings had been booked by the BJP government, making it impossible for them to secure electricity connections. To resolve this long-standing problem, the AAP government placed the proposal before the MCD House. When the proposal was introduced, the BJP strongly opposed it because BJP leaders were involved in corruption linked to booked properties,” he said. The AAP councillor added that the BJP government had not taken a single step to help people living in booked properties because its leaders were deeply entangled in corruption. “The AAP fought for electricity connections to booked properties inside the House and we won in the High Court. We thank the High Court for this decision,” he said.
AAP Accuses BJP of ‘Credit Theft’ Over Delhi High Court Order on Electricity Connections

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has blasted the BJP’s “Chachi 420” government for pulling off its boldest ‘credit-chori’ (credit theft) yet, hijacking a Delhi High Court order and passing it off as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s achievement. AAP’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said the BJP didn’t just hide the court’s ruling on electricity connections for Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)’s booked properties, it staged a full-blown victory parade, with BJP leaders, including Manoj Tiwari and Virendra Sachdeva, congratulating Rekha Gupta for a decision she never made. Addressing a press conference, AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “The BJP government is setting new records of ‘farziwada’ (fraud) every day. The BJP government is committing fraud with pollution data and with the cleaning of the Yamuna. When they get caught, they say things can’t be fixed so quickly. If they cannot fix it quickly then why did they claim they would? Arvind Kejriwal’s government purchased buses and CM Rekha Gupta now wants to take credit for it. Arvind Kejriwal built Mohalla Clinics and dispensaries and the BJP CM wants to replace the boards and take the credit.” Highlighting how the BJP has crossed every limit, Saurabh Bharadwaj elaborated, “While stealing the credit of the Aam Aadmi Party government, the BJP government has gone so far in its fraud that it is now trying to steal credit for the courts’ work as well. The BJP government is not just cheating the people of Delhi, now the CM of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, is doing fraud even with the court.” Waving the posters of the film ‘Chachi 420’, he said that CM Rekha Gupta has even committed fraud with the Delhi High Court. “The BJP believes no one will notice their fraud. On Tuesday, all newspapers published a wrongly printed report quoting CM Rekha Gupta that electricity connections would now be allowed even in booked properties. It was reported that the MCD used to stop electricity connections in properties booked for unauthorised construction and that her government has now decided these properties will again receive electricity connections,” shared the senior AAP leader. Saurabh Bharadwaj continued, “Before publishingExplaining how the claim got amplified, Saurabh Bharadwaj continued, “Before publishing this report, the media should have checked when and why this decision was taken. This release was prepared and sent from the CM’s office and the media published it trusting the CM. After that, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari went to thank CM Rekha Gupta saying that this decision was awaited for a long time and would bring relief to Delhi’s people. Then BJP Delhi State President Virendra Sachdeva committed the third fraud. Virendra Sachdeva also thanked the Chief Minister and called this decision unprecedented.” The AAP Delhi Chief revealed, “This order belongs to Delhi High Court Judge Mini Pushkarna, not to the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister is committing fraud with the people of Delhi and even with the court. From the very first day, CM Rekha Gupta has been stealing the credit for the work done by Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party. But in this fraud, ‘Chachi 420’ (referring to CM Rekha Gupta) has gone so far that she is now presenting the Delhi High Court’s order as her own order. We did not know that Rekha Gupta is also a judge of the Delhi High Court. This fraud can only be done by the BJP. Both English and Hindi newspapers have published this.” Pointing to the long-running case, he added, “A case related to electricity connections in booked properties had been ongoing in court for many years. When the MCD books a property, it does not receive an electricity connection. I have said many times that the matter is pending in the High Court and we hope the Delhi High Court will deliver a good decision that will provide relief to lakhs of families.” Delivered by Delhi High Court“On 13 November, this decision was delivered by Delhi High Court Judge Mini Pushkarna. In the order, she wrote that it is not acceptable that a property booked by MCD should be denied an electricity connection. If the MCD wants to demolish or seal a property, then electricity connections will be cut at that time. Merely on the grounds of booking, electricity connections cannot be stopped, and if a property is booked but no action is being taken, then the Delhi High Court has instructed BSES (Bombay Suburban Electricity Supply) Yamuna Power Limited to provide electricity connections,” he added. Saurabh Bharadwaj continued, “To commit fraud over the Delhi High Court’s order, on 17 November 2025 the Special Secretary of the Power Department, Ravi Dadhich, issued an order. It stated that the government reviewed the latest decision and issued instructions after consulting the Law Department. Whereas, the High Court’s decision was already binding on the discom. The order deliberately hid the court’s decision. The BJP government intended deception and fraud, which is why the name of the court’s decision was concealed.”He asserted, “Who behaves with such shamelessness? The BJP government is presenting the Delhi High Court’s order as its own and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and Virendra Sachdeva are thanking the CM. I want to tell CM Rekha Gupta to file a defamation case against me because I also want to go to court and state that CM Rekha Gupta is so deeply involved in fraud that she wants to steal the credit even for the court’s decisions. I also request the court to officially certify CM Rekha Gupta with the name ‘Chachi 420’ so that she is known by that name. No government has committed this level of ‘420’ (fraud) that CM Rekha Gupta has.”
Sonia Gandhi Honours Michelle Bachelet with the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development 2024

Smt. Sonia Gandhi said- Your Excellency Madame Michelle Bachelet, Former President of Chile; Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji, Shri Shivshankar Menon, Chairperson of the Jury for the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development; Members of the Jury, Distinguished Guests…. The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development was instituted in 1985 in the memory of one of the most extraordinary women leaders of our time. The award commemorates Indira Gandhi’s monumental contributions by celebrating women, men and institutions that have worked towards social development, peace, sustainability and numerous other causes. It reminds us that even in the times of strife, there are those who fight for progress, justice and the wellbeing of humankind. Reshaped our country with herAs India’s first and only woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi reshaped our country with her policies dedicated to ameliorating poverty, deprivation, conflict and inequality. She once said and I quote “Peace we want because there is another war to fight- against poverty, disease and ignorance.” Her work reflected these beliefs, that everyone has the right to live without oppression, prejudice, poverty and violence. The breadth and depth of her accomplishments continue to be recalled and admired in India and across the world. As a leader with a compassionate heart, a deep love for her people, a fierce commitment to human rights and an unflinching faith in non-violence – her legacy continues to inspire countless people. Today, I feel privileged to be able to say a few words on the life of another extraordinary, inspiring leader whom we are honouring. Transformation into a democracyFormer President Michelle Bachelet has seen at first hand, loss, oppression, torture and exile in her early years. It is a remarkable coincidence how both these two women were born and raised in times of strife. Their country, their people, their family and they themselves were victims of subjugation. Madame Bachelet found her way back to Chile, facing setbacks while also witnessing her country’s transformation into a democracy. As a trained medical professional, she worked with the Ministry of Health, later serving as the Health Minister in 2000. She continued to break barriers, becoming Chile and Latin America’s first female Defence Minister – and made history when she was elected President of her country on two separate occasions. As Menon has just said, Madame Bachelet’s influence extended far beyond the borders of Chile and Latin America, when she was appointed as the first director of UN Women Agency in 2010 and later as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Her work has been rooted in efforts to ensure the rights of all, but particularly of women. She believes that gender equality is imperative to resolving all that afflicts our world. She has said and I quote, “We simply can no longer afford to deny the full potential of one half of the population. The world needs to tap into the talent and wisdom of women. Whether the issue is food security, economic recovery, health, or peace and security, the participation of women is needed now more than ever. Military and police forcesAs President, she reformed her country’s healthcare system by improving access to primary care facilities, targeting her government’s policies towards vulnerable sections such as victims of sexual abuse, promoting their rights to good health and well-being. She was also responsible for improving the conditions and treatment of women in the military and police forces. Her far-reaching tax reforms resulted in more inclusive pension schemes and social protection programmes for women and children, and the adoption of quotas to increase women’s political participation. Legislations introduced by her government have done much to promote equality, rights and freedoms to all.So, it is indeed an honour for the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust to confer the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development- 2024 on President Michelle Bachelet who epitomizes the very essence of Indira Gandhi’s life and work. And now all of us here are looking forward to hearing Madame Bachelet, and it is with great-great pleasure that I invite her to address us.
AAP Delhi Chief Saurabh Bharadwaj Slams BJP Over Stray Cattle Chaos in Patparganj, Central Delhi Streets Turn into Cattle Corridors

AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said that Patparganj today represents the complete breakdown of civic administration under the BJP in the national capital, with central residential roads overtaken by stray cattle and no action from the Delhi Government or the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Saurabh Bharadwaj said the situation reflects what is now happening across almost every assembly constituency in the city. Sharing a video on X describing what he is seeing on the ground, senior AAP leader and Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “As you enter the Patparganj Assembly constituency, the road signage reads a warm welcome and the apartment complex is right in front. The main road inside Patparganj is supposed to welcome residents, but instead the road is lined with dozens of cows sitting across the stretch. It looks as if the road has laid out a welcome, but what you actually encounter is a long line of cattle.Saurabh Bharadwaj saidThe AAP Delhi Unit Chief added, “There are clear and organised arrangements of cow dung, filth, water and fodder placed on the footpath. All of this has been allowed by the authorities. This is not a small patch. As far as you can see, cows are sitting on the road. This is the condition in almost every assembly constituency in Delhi.” Raising questions over the BJP administration’s failure to act, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Is it not the responsibility of the Delhi Government and the MCD to take these cows to gaushalas? Has any arrangement been made for them in the last eight to ten months? Main road of PatparganjHe said the situation has worsened sharply since the BJP came to power, stating, “It seems that ever since the BJP government took charge, the number of stray cattle on the roads has increased several times. Wherever you look, cows that should be inside gaushalas are instead sitting scattered across the roads. Highlighting that this is happening in a central residential stretch, not a distant locality, he said, “This is the main road of Patparganj, right in front of Retreat Apartments. This is not a far off or remote area. This is the central road itself and this is the condition it is in.”
