The Delhi High Court has issued a stern remark against Baba Ramdev for calling Rooh Afza a “Sharbat Jihad.” The court also served him with a contempt notice for his comments, stating that he is in contempt of court.

The High Court, while hearing a petition challenging Ramdev’s controversial statement about Rooh Afza, observed that Baba Ramdev seems to be living in his own world, uncontrollable by anyone. The court remarked that Ramdev was prima facie in contempt of its previous order.

Justice Amit Bansal, presiding over the case, made these remarks during the hearing, which was based on a petition filed by Hamdard, the manufacturer of Rooh Afza. The petition sought to challenge Baba Ramdev’s statement calling Rooh Afza a part of “Sharbat Jihad.” The court expressed displeasure, stating that it appeared as though Baba Ramdev was uncontrollable, as his new video with the same provocative content was uploaded despite the court’s earlier order.

Earlier, Baba Ramdev’s lawyer, Rajeev Nair, had informed the court that the objectionable video would be removed. The court had instructed them to file an affidavit ensuring that such comments would not be made in the future.

After the controversy, Baba Ramdev had claimed, “I did not take anyone’s name, but Rooh Afza took it upon themselves to call it ‘Sharbat Jihad.’ This clearly indicates they are engaged in ‘Jihad.'”

The court had previously expressed its strong disapproval of Ramdev’s statement on April 22. Justice Amit Bansal’s bench described the remark as “unforgivable” and “shocking to the conscience of the court.” The court also stated that his comment was damaging to social harmony and spread hatred. Ramdev’s lawyer had assured the court that the controversial video would be removed from social media platforms.
