New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva has welcomed the addition of 400 new buses to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet under the leadership of BJP’s Rekha Gupta government. The inauguration of the new buses took place in the presence of Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
Criticism of AAP’s Decade of Inaction
Mr. Sachdeva criticized the former AAP government led by Arvind Kejriwal for failing to expand the DTC fleet over the past ten years. He stated that not a single bus was added during their tenure, and most existing DTC buses have now exceeded not only their legal fitness lifespan but also continued operating for over two years beyond that limit. “Running such buses is nothing short of compulsion,” he remarked.
Addressing the Shortage in Public Transport
He further highlighted that Delhi is currently facing a shortage of public transport buses due to the negligence of the previous government. However, he assured citizens that the current administration is working swiftly and strategically to bridge this gap.
Target of 11,000 Buses by End of 2026
Shri Virendra Sachdeva emphasized that the Rekha Gupta-led BJP government is working with a clear vision and concrete goals. “We are committed to providing Delhiites with a robust and adequate public transport system consisting of 11,000 buses by the end of 2026,” he said.
