NEW DELHI:
A chilling CCTV video of a father and son being stripped and beaten in broad daylight on a Laxmi Nagar street has put the spotlight firmly on Delhi’s deteriorating law and order situation, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) squarely held the BJP government responsible for fostering an atmosphere of unchecked violence.
Responding to the viral footage, AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj said the incident reflects the dangerous misuse of political power drawn from the votes of Delhi’s people. Citing photographs of the accused with senior BJP leaders, he said the assault exposes how goondaism has taken deep root in the city, leaving citizens vulnerable even in the middle of the day.
Sharing the video on X, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, “This is the power of your single vote. Victim Rajesh Garg and his son were stripped on the road and then mercilessly beaten. Yes, goondaraj is now fully established in Delhi. The condition of the police is also clearly visible in the video. This incident is from Laxmi Nagar. The man seen wearing a blue jacket calls himself a BJP leader and has photographs on social media with senior BJP leaders.”
AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha said the January 2 incident in Laxmi Nagar has raised grave questions about law and order in the capital. “Rajesh Garg and his son were stripped and assaulted on the road in a brutal manner in full public view. Omkar Yadav, clearly visible in a blue jacket, claims affiliation with the BJP and the RSS and has repeatedly projected his influence by sharing photographs with prominent leaders on social media,” said the AAP MLA.
Sanjeev Jha further said that even in the presence of the Delhi Police, the accused stood fearlessly and continued to assault the victims. “The question before Delhi today is whether criminals are being protected on the basis of political clout. Is this the real face of law and order in the capital?” he said.
