Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav has written to the Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) of Delhi to join Congress’ signature campaign against the vote theft (Vote Chori) by the BJP in collusion with the Election Commission to subvert the people’s verdict, which was exposed by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi with fool-proof evidence before the people to create tremendous nation-wide impact, and raise their voice against this malpractice. He said that the Election Commission was also preparing to hold SIR (Special Intensive Revision) in Delhi and this exercise will be used as cover to exclude the names of voters who are not sympathetic to the BJP, which gained power through forgery and conspiracy. He said that the involvement of RWAs in the signature campaign will protect democratic values and constitutional rights of the people. (A copy of the open letter is enclosed)
Exposed the vote
Devender Yadav said that Shri Rahul Gandhi had exposed the vote theft by the BJP in Karnataka, which was a clear evidence of the election malpractices indulged in by the BJP in collusion with the EC. He said that people’s right to vote was an important Constitutional right in a democratic system, under which the people elect the government through their votes to run the country so that the work of public welfare and development can be done truthfully and faithfully. He said that the responsibility of conducting elections in a fair and transparent manner rested with the Election Commission, which was given Constitutional status by the makers of the Constitution, but unfortunately the ruling BJP was indulging in a conspiracy with the EC to steal votes to subvert a democratic election process.
Awareness among the people about the vote
Devender Yadav said that to create awareness among the people about the vote theft by the BJP, which was exposed by Shri Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Congress started a Delhi-wide signature campaign, which has been receiving tremendous response from the people, and the involvement of the RWAs in this campaign will help Congress to take this campaign to all corners of the city. He said that though Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had publicly admitted to vote theft in Delhi, Delhi Congress was collecting evidence about it. He said that after completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, the Election Commission is also preparing to hold SIR in Delhi through which the process of deleting the votes of genuine residents of Delhi can also be done in an unethical manner. He said that when a Constitutional body like the Election Commission colludes with the BJP to steal votes to help the ruling BJP to stay in power, such action is not only against democratic and constitutional values but also against the mandate of 140 crore people of the country. Devender Yadav said that during the 15-year Government of the Congress in Delhi, the Residents’ Welfare Associations of Delhi were strengthened through the Bhagidari Scheme and RWAs were also made development partners of the city through many innovative schemes. He said that the importance of RWAs and the selfless work done by them during the Congress rule should be highlighted and their involvement in the signature campaign will thwart any attempt to exclude genuine voters from the rolls .
Devender Yadav said that the Delhi Congress has appointed registered BLA-1s in each Vidhan Sabha who not only monitors the activities of the Election Commission but also look after the fresh votes of the people, shifting of votes and other election related work.
Devender Yadav appealed to the Presidents of the RWAs to contact the Congress representatives and workers in their respective areas for election-related work or complaints / suggestions else they can also directly give their complaints or suggestions to the control room number 9625777907 of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.
