The finals of the Archery NTPC National Ranking Tournament were held today at the Yamuna Sports Club. The event witnessed the presence of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, who cheered and motivated the participating players.
Lt. Governor Announces New Archery Training Facility in Delhi
During the event, Delhi Lt. Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena announced the upcoming construction of another state-of-the-art archery stadium in Delhi, aimed at providing enhanced training facilities for young archers. This new initiative is expected to further strengthen Delhi’s sports infrastructure and encourage budding talent.
Massive Rewards for Players
Speaking at the event, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva revealed that a total of ₹1 crore in cash prizes was awarded to the participants. Additionally, archers received equipment worth ₹2.5 crore sponsored by NTPC. Expressing optimism, Sachdeva said, “We are confident that with such support, our players will bring medals home from the 2028 Olympics.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision for Sports Highlighted
Highlighting the transformation in the Indian sports ecosystem, Virendra Sachdeva credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past 11 years for revolutionizing sports development across the country. He emphasized initiatives like ‘Khelo India’ and ‘Fit India’, which have significantly boosted grassroots participation and provided better training infrastructure.
Sachdeva further stated, “Previously, support for athletes came only after podium finishes. Today, players are identified and nurtured right from the grassroots level, receiving essential equipment and professional training from the beginning. This proactive approach is paving the way for India’s stronger presence in international sporting events.”
