In a significant step towards empowering sportspersons through education, the Archery Association of India (AAI) has signed a partnership with Amity University Online to support the academic advancement of Indian archers. The agreement was formalized on 11 July in New Delhi in the presence of AAI President and former Union Minister Shri Arjun Munda, Delhi BJP President and AAI General Secretary Shri Virendra Sachdeva, and Amity University promoter Shri Ashok Chavan. The collaboration aims to address a long-standing challenge faced by many athletes—balancing their educational pursuits with the intense demands of training and competition schedules, often resulting in missed classes and exams, and disrupted academic journeys.
To resolve this issue, AAI and Amity University Online have launched a landmark initiative that enables archers to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies through flexible online programs. These programs are specifically designed to suit the lifestyle of athletes, offering recorded lectures and anytime-anywhere access so that students can continue learning without interrupting their sporting commitments. The highlight of this collaboration is the CHAMPS scholarship program, which offers substantial financial support to archers based on their level of achievement. International-level players will receive a 100% scholarship covering the full tuition fee, state-level players will be entitled to a 50% fee waiver, and district-level athletes will benefit from a 30% scholarship on the program cost.
Further supporting their academic and athletic development, Amity University Online will provide a free certification course in Sports Psychology, an essential component for building mental resilience and performance consistency. Additionally, each enrolled archer will be assigned a dedicated academic counsellor to assist with coursework, examinations, assignments, and technical support on the learning platform. Shri Ashok Chavan emphasized that this partnership reflects a shared commitment by AAI and Amity University to the holistic development of athletes, ensuring they can achieve sporting excellence while laying a strong academic foundation for life beyond the field. Both organizations believe this initiative will help archers succeed not just in their sport, but in their broader personal and professional journeys.
