New Delhi, January 4, 2026 – Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Devender Yadav led a massive protest at Durga Chowk Police Station Bhalswa Dairy in Badli Vidhan Sabha to wake up the deaf and dumb government of Delhi against the increasing crime and poor law and order in Delhi. Shri Yadav demanded the arrest of the priest of Durga Mandir in Shraddhanand Colony E Block, Bhalswa Dairy area for committing a heinous crime with a 15-year-old minor girl. He said what kind of dictatorial rule of the BJP is this. in which , after the court’s order and under the pressure of the family, the police registered FIRs against those who commit crimes with minors but do not arrest the guilty?
A large number of Congress workers and local residents along with DPCC president Devender Yadav participated in the protest. The protesters raised slogans against the priest of the Durga temple, “The police is guarding the rapist,” “Arrest the Lavkush priest – arrest him,” etc. The protest was peaceful and carried out in a democratic manner.
Shri Devender Yadav said that the incident of rape of minor daughter of Shraddhanand Colony in Bhalswa area is serious and worrisome which has made every citizen of the society think sbout deterirsting law & order situation in Delhi. This misdeed by the Durga temple priest will encourage anti-social elements in the name of religion, faith and belief. The case registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station comes under the stringent POCSO Act and the priest should be arrested immediately on the statement of the victim. It is unfortunate that the delay in the arrest of the accused despite the registration of the case for 6 months may endanger the safety of the victim and her family. He said that the accused who is roaming freely is a threat to other girls and the affected minor and family members are passing through mental trauma.
Shri Devender Yadav said that while an atmosphere of fear is prevailing in the society due to the increase in the number of traumatic incidents of women, minor girls, rape, molestation and snatching in Delhi, the Rekha Gupta government of Delhi is neither showing any concern to improve the law and order of Delhi nor is discussing with the Union Home Ministry to intervene.
Shri Devender Yadav said that we especially appeal to the conscious citizens of the entire society to consider the incident as a warning and it is the responsibility of all of us to protect the safety of children, respect of women and sanctity of religion. He said the accused priest has the patronage of BJP leaders and influential leaders are constantly pressuring the police to save the priest. He said the people of the area demand that the priest accused of raping the minor be arrested immediately.
