Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will celebrate the festival of Karwa Chauth with women from across the Capital at the Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan tomorrow. This will be her first Karwa Chauth celebration as Chief Minister, an occasion she describes as deeply emotional and personally significant. The Chief Minister said she is looking forward to joining women in observing this cherished festival that symbolises devotion, love, and togetherness. “Karwa Chauth holds a special place in every Indian woman’s heart. It represents faith, family, and the sacred bond of marriage,” she said, adding that the festival reflects the strength of Indian traditions that continue to unite families and communities.

Women from diverse walks of life
The celebration will bring together women from diverse walks of life including women legislators, wives of Members of Parliament, senior women officers, social workers, and members of the Chief Minister’s own family. The chief minister shared that she has been hosting Karwa Chauth gatherings for nearly fifteen years in different parts of Delhi, and that these events have always been marked by warmth, joy, and a sense of sisterhood. For me, Karwa Chauth has never been just about the rituals. It is a time when women come together to celebrate love, support each other, and strengthen the bonds that hold our families and communities together,” she said.

Celebrations will feature traditional
At the Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan, the celebrations will feature traditional prayers and rituals, along with cultural performances, storytelling sessions, and folk songs that capture the essence of Indian heritage. The Chief Minister said the event will be filled with warmth, grace, and mutual respect as an opportunity to celebrate womanhood and the spirit of togetherness. “Karwa Chauth is not only a personal expression of devotion; it is a celebration of our culture and collective strength as women,” she said. “Through this celebration, we reaffirm that tradition and modern life can go hand in hand preserving our values while embracing change.” She added that she hopes this gathering will offer women not only a spiritual and cultural experience but also a chance to connect with one another, share their stories, and celebrate the bonds of affection that define Indian society. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s initiative aims to celebrate Delhi’s women and further elevate the spirit, sanctity, and significance of the Karwa Chauth festival across the city.
