The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tore into the Modi government against Sunday’s India-Pakistan cricket match, urging citizens to boycott the game. National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, and Delhi Assembly LoP Atishi declared that playing cricket with Pakistan—a country that shelters terrorists—is an insult to India’s martyrs. Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj further administered an oath to all Lok Sabha office bearers in the capital to boycott the match in solidarity.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal took to X and wrote: “Playing a match with Pakistan is treason against the country and that every Indian is deeply angry about it.”

AAP slams Modi government for India-Pakistan cricket match
Senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia wrote on X that after the Pahalgam attack, PM Modi had proudly declared that “talks and terrorism cannot go together.” He added, “It seems that patriotism is limited only to the Prime Minister’s speeches. Now the whole country is asking: have the flames of Operation Sindoor cooled so quickly that cricket matches are being played with the same terrorists? Prime Minister, answer the people.” During a media interaction, senior AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singhsaid, “In Pahalgam, our sisters’ sindoor was snatched away. The Government of India itself said that this was carried out by terrorists from Pakistan. After that, Operation Sindoor was launched, in which our soldiers were martyred, civilians were killed, and even an ADC was martyred. How can we play cricket with the same Pakistan we are fighting against?”

Calls it a betrayal of martyrs and urges boycott citing national security concerns

The AAP MP pointed out, stating: “The Government has itself said Operation Sindoor is not yet over. Prime Minister Modi himself declared that blood and water cannot flow together, that terror and trade cannot go together. Then how can blood and sport go together? The truth is, since cricket is linked to their sons’ business, with thousands of crores of rupees at stake, the country’s honour can take a back seat, but their profits must not stop.”He further said, “People must understand that these are fake nationalists. They talk about patriotism again and again, but for them business comes first, and the nation is far behind. Their real interest is in cricket’s massive business and betting. For them, the country does not matter in this trade. The youth who chant ‘Modi-Modi’ blindly must realise this double character. When their business is running, they have no problem with Pakistan. Whether in Dubai, Qatar or anywhere else, as long as their money keeps flowing, they don’t care.”
