Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva today announced that the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi Government has shown sensitivity to the challenges faced by citizens and temporarily suspended the enforcement of the National Green Tribunal (NGT)-imposed ban on older vehicles, just two days after its implementation.
Sachdeva Slams Atishi for ‘Drama’ Remarks
Criticizing the remarks of Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Ms. Atishi Marlena, who termed the Delhi Government’s decision to approach the Supreme Court as “drama,” Shri Sachdeva said this reflects the anarchic tendencies of both Ms. Atishi and the Aam Aadmi Party.
He pointed out that for a full decade, neither the Kejriwal government nor Ms. Atishi took any initiative to seek judicial relief from the NGT’s 2015 directive banning older vehicles thereby worsening the situation for Delhi residents.
BJP-Led Delhi Govt Moves Swiftly for Relief
Shri Sachdeva highlighted that the Rekha Gupta government took prompt and considerate action in response to the public’s difficulties. By suspending the ban, the administration has proven that it is attentive to the needs of the common citizen.
He further stated that the Delhi Government will now present the matter in court, placing the public’s grievances on record. He expressed full confidence that vehicles found to be mechanically sound will eventually receive relief from the judiciary.
Call for Practical and Balanced Environmental Policies
The Delhi BJP reiterated its commitment to environmental protection but emphasized the need for practical implementation that doesn’t disproportionately burden the citizens. The party underlined the importance of balancing ecological concerns with the everyday realities of the people.
