The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party today hosted the first performance of the play “Rashtravaad ke Aadipurush”, a theatrical production centered on the life and legacy of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder and former Union Minister Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The event took place at the prestigious Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi.
Senior BJP Leadership Graces the Occasion
BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda and Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta attended the performance along with several senior leaders, MLAs, councillors, and enthusiastic party workers.
Welcoming the National President, Delhi BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva presented him with a bouquet and memento. Shri Nadda commended the Delhi BJP team for effectively communicating Mookerjee’s nationalist vision through an artistic medium that resonates with the public.
A New Cultural Beginning for the Capital
Addressing the audience from the stage, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “By presenting ‘Rashtravaad ke Aadipurush’, we have taken a distinctive step forward. Our mission is to bring Dr. Mookerjee’s nationalist ideology to every citizen of Delhi
She emphasized that Dr. Mookerjee’s ideals and his supreme sacrifice for the integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India will inspire future generations for years to come.
Bringing History Alive Through Theatre
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, who conceptualized the production, said the play aimed to present Mookerjee’s journey from his academic brilliance to his political ideology and commitment to national unity in a clear and relatable format.
He noted that the production involved a dedicated team of 75 members, including 58 artists from the National School of Drama and Shriram Kala Kendra, a lead director, and 16 technical staff. Dr. Sumit Bhasin played a crucial role in managing the arrangements, with active support from the Yuva Morcha, Purvanchal Morcha, and the party’s Media Cell.
