In a significant development amid ongoing tensions in Manipur, security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from five districts in the Imphal Valley. Acting on intelligence inputs, a coordinated operation was carried out by the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and the Indian Army from late Friday night to early Saturday morning. Over 328 firearms were seized, including 151 self-loading rifles (SLRs), 65 INSAS rifles, 73 other rifles, 5 carbines, 2 MP5 submachine guns, 12 light machine guns, 6 rifles from the AK series, 2 Amogh rifles, 1 mortar, 6 pistols, 1 AR-15 rifle, and 2 flare guns. This recovery is seen as a major breakthrough in the effort to curb the circulation of illegal arms in the region.

Police officials have reiterated their commitment to restoring peace and stability in Manipur and have appealed to the public to support security efforts by reporting any suspicious activity or information related to illegal arms to the nearest police station or central control room. Senior officers have confirmed that such joint operations will continue across the state to ensure the safety of citizens and their properties. Given Manipur’s fragile law-and-order situation, this operation marks a critical step toward re-establishing normalcy in the state.
